Its no use for iPod

It doesnt work for any iPod in the world, there are no iPods ever made with magnetic compasses

Guess what people! Technology has limitations, it can only do what its built for, omg what an amazing and innovative idea! The makers of this app were smart they used new capabilities built into new products to create a nice piece of software now its your turn to think, and use that brain. Because guess what you can know what on board technology your device has so know your specs and know what an app does. Come on people stop being stupid and think for your selves. Quit being ignorant.
